Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
